Celebrating 60+ years of the legendary Hinckley Bermuda 40 - connecting owners and admirers of William Tripp's timeless design

As naval architect Jack Horner wrote:

"This boat has stood the test of time...

many people still consider the Bermuda 40

one of the most beautiful yachts afloat."

About

A Legacy Worth Preserving

For over six decades, the Hinckley Bermuda 40 has stood as one of sailing's most respected designs. Born from William H. Tripp Jr.'s vision and Hinckley's legendary craftsmanship, these remarkable vessels represent the perfect marriage of innovative fiberglass construction with timeless seaworthiness.

From Hull #1 Huntress, launched in 1959, to Icefire, the 203rd and final Bermuda 40 built—both still sailing the Chesapeake today—each vessel carries a unique story of adventure, meticulous craftsmanship, and enduring beauty.

Stories from Our Fleet

From solo circumnavigations to weekend cruises, every Bermuda 40 has tales to tell. Our members have sailed these boats across oceans, won prestigious races like the Newport-Bermuda, and created lifelong memories aboard these timeless classics.

As one owner perfectly captured: "The B40 is to be bought on the day that the full significance of 'you only have one life to live' becomes clear."

"Being part of this association has been invaluable. The advice, camaraderie, and shared passion for these boats is truly special."
